PCG Power’s Industrial and Commercial Energy Storage Project for Siemens Completed

2024.11.07

PCG Power recently completed its industrial and commercial energy storage project for Siemens in Nanjing, which has been grid-integrated and is operational.

The project utilizes the facility's open space at Siemens Numerical Control Ltd., Nanjing, to build user-side energy storage installations with a 1.86MW/5.58MWh capacity. Adopting a two-stage charging and discharging strategy, it was connected to the company's low-voltage busbar system for peak-load shifting, reducing electricity expenses, and maximizing benefits.

Industrial and Commercial Energy Storage Power Station at Siemens Numerical Control Ltd., Nanjing

Siemens Numerical Control Ltd., Nanjing is a subsidiary of the German conglomerate Siemens AG. It is also a global lighthouse factory under the digital enterprise concept and the largest R&D and manufacturing center of Siemens AG in the field of motion control outside Germany. As a lighthouse factory that plays a leading role, the company has incorporated digital twin technology since initial facility construction and has consistently embraced technological innovation during its development and iteration.

This industrial and commercial energy storage power station, developed by PCG Power, is injecting new impetus into the facility. In recent years, industrial and commercial energy storage has gained significant market attention for its rich application scenarios, high system utilization rate, straightforward investment return calculations based on peak-valley electricity prices, and clear business model. It has emerged as an energy storage scenario featuring a high degree of market-oriented development.

Upon completion, the system can capture and store excess electrical energy during low consumption periods and release it during peak demand periods, balancing power supply, ensuring the power network stability in the facility, while reducing the risk of power outages during peak consumption periods. From an economic perspective, beyond saving electricity expenses, this power station can respond to electricity price fluctuations by buying at low prices and selling at high prices to create immediate benefits for property owners.

Notably, this power station uses ABESSTEC's Containerized Lithium Battery Storage to integrate safety features such as active cell balancing and multi-level protection, equipped with Siemens AG's fully submerged nitrogen fire protection system and ABESSTEC's cloud-based remote alarm device for energy storage, achieving all-around safety protection from early warning to fire extinguishing.

Looking ahead, PCG Power will continuously enhance the project's practical benefits for this facility and innovate forms of cooperation with property owners, consistently providing Siemens with efficient and reliable integrated energy services.

Regarding the expansion of cooperation forms, PCG Power implemented the 0.5MW/1.075MWh energy storage project at the Siemens Shanghai facility. The smooth implementation and operation of this project series have laid the foundation for subsequent bilateral cooperation.

In terms of deepening project achievements, the energy storage system built by PCG Power for Siemens will incorporate emerging technical means such as virtual power plants, making it a core device for flexibility of the source-network-load-storage integrated microgrid and virtual power plants in the facility. The built energy storage system will support the main power grid to correspond, support, and interact flexibly with the regional microgrid and virtual power plants, aiming to facilitate the load regulation of power consumption and the scheduling of flexible resources within the facility.
